Movie chatter

I went to both X2 and Matrix Reloaded recently. Wouldn’t have bothered with the latter except that a friend I really wanted to see invited me.

Anyhow, this sums up a lot of what cheesed me off about Matrix Reloaded. Not all, but most. And this (via Pandora’s Vox) takes care of the rest of it. (And Joe Clark weighs in wittily.)

I will, however, give the credits-designer some applause for Unicode-enabling the Matrix. In a movie with rigid segregation by color and no cultural diversity whatever, I liked to see that.

X2 was fun. No pretensions, just fun. But speaking of credits… please, please, please fire the bozo who chose the Star Trekky oblique sans-serif font for the credits. Then shoot the font designer. Thank you. I’ve hated that style of font since Star Trek: The Next Generation, and I’m just disgusted to see people still using it. It’s ugly. And will eventually date everything that uses it horribly. Bleagh.
