Birthdays
I’ve been wondering at the substantial number of older-woman-younger-man couples I see in the census data I’m working with. Usually the age difference is no more than one would see were the man the older one, but given how rare the phenomenon seems to be elsewhere and elsewhen, I’m curious.
I wonder how much it has to do with birthday celebration—or lack thereof. If calendar age gets pushed a little further into the background, other more salient characteristics turn up. Kinda cool, I think. If I’m right, which I may not be.
And, no, I’m not just thinking this because I turn 31 in a few days.
