The look

So before I went in to the NCSU demo-and-chat yesterday, I showered and put on a neat white long-sleeved blouse, a long black wool skirt, a muted paisley vest, and unremarkable black flat-heeled shoes. Small oval earrings, restrained makeup, and hair properly done up in back…

… and I looked at myself in the mirror and grinned irrepressibly, because I suddenly looked every inch the stereotyped librarian. Well, the slit up the side of the skirt was a bit daring, but… oh, mercy.

Today I’m wearing one of my long hippie crinkle-gauze dresses over wool clogs, and I’ve left my hair loose. Can’t be perpetuating stereotypes, now can we?
