Stupid Java
I spent all. damn. day. trying to get DSpace’s command-line batch importer to work. Latest hypothesis is that for some reason ant isn’t picking up the changes I made to the source code, and if anyone has an idea why that might be, I’m all ears. (That, or Java is looking some weird place I can’t imagine and haven’t messed with to find the code, this hypothesis advanced because I actually took the malfunctioning file out and rebuilt DSpace without it in a fit of pique, and yet dsrun still seemed to find the code. Wha’-huh?)
I don’t know. I don’t know what the heck is wrong, and I’m about to holler uncle and see if the IT folks can find me a Java guru for rent. (I pay in homemade cookies!) If anybody wants to offer me a hand, see my yell for help, which as yet has garnered no responses.
On the plus side, I think I’m about to roll the new design (with its associated DSpace upgrade) out to the production server. If I can browser-test and get through a couple more fixes tomorrow, I’ll announce the outage for Monday.
