Some extra rest
I have truly frightening amounts of sick leave available, so when I went in to work today with a head wrapped in wool, I decided to use a couple hours, feeling vaguely guilty about it. (No, no overindulgence, thank you; it’s difficult to overindulge when one doesn’t indulge in the first place.)
I won’t say I didn’t earn it, though. I sussed out Apache virtual hosts so that I could run a new project on my repository’s machine. I then transferred a Postgres database from the test machine to the working machine and got the new project’s software installed with a minimum of disruption. I am slightly nervous about this new project, as it is not quite within my brief (though I can make a good case for it) and it’s a bit of a Not Authorized From Above skunkworks… but if it gets shut down, it gets shut down.
I also bit the bullet and scheduled three campus talks (well, okay, three instances of the CampusTalk class) on scholarly communication. The liaisons are being very good about publicizing them, and I’ve already gotten an offer to do a fourth (instance) on one of the other campuses. Plus I get to hype the repository at an open-house next week.
So the evil plans are proceeding reasonably apace, despite today’s brain-fog.
