Arrived
Sometimes the good $DEITY decides to up and remind me why I put having children completely out of the question nine years ago. Forty-five minutes of screaming, sniveling four-year-old bratling two rows behind me on a flight that’s an hour late will do that. Hey, $DEITY? Message received, okay?
But my luggage wasn’t lost, and the cabbie knew exactly where my hotel was, and the bed was remarkably comfortable as hotel beds go, so travel zen came through just fine.
Before breakfast, I duly checked Google Maps for the route from my hotel to the conference hotel. Google Maps promptly sold me a bunch of purest hooey. However, I followed my instincts back toward the center of town and caught sight of the gigantic Marriott sign, after which I was just fine… and because I’m paranoid about getting lost, I arrived in the meeting room a half-hour early anyway.
We appear to be next door to a monster-truck rally or techno rave or something of that nature. Thank you, Marriott Riverwalk San Antonio, for completely screwing over a small conference.
I will try to liveblog as much as possible, now that they’ve moved a wireless AP where Nova the PowerBook connects to it. I’m in the DSpace User Group meeting now.
