Trackin’ those yaks

I like ice-skating. I even own my own skates.

I do not like ice-skating to work. It was nasty this morning. Just unbelievably dangerous—that tiny little skim of ice that’s often not even visible, but will wipe you out just the same.

Thankfully, I got to work without actually falling, but I was fifteen minutes late and not pleased at all with the experience.

So off a tip from the Madison LiveJournal group, I stopped off at Movin’ Shoes on the way home from work for a pair of gizmos with the unlikely name of YakTrax. I now understand what the odd criss-cross footprints I see all over town are, and I curse my slowness in learning.

Got David a pair too; he doesn’t walk as much as I do, but we’re both walkers, and his birthday’s in a couple weeks anyhow.
