My minor, more-in-amusement-than-in-anger, grad school rant of the day:
Mostly I like the collaborative culture in my department. But sometimes, you know? Sometimes somebody just needs to stand up and DO something, instead of repeatedly asking for buy-in (permission?) from everybody else.
Some things don’t need elaborate planning. Set a date, send out an email with it, show up, end of story. The more tsuris that arises around something like this, the less likely it is that anything will happen.
So don’t ask permission. Just up and do it.
