Well, that was an adventure. I haven’t seen snow like this in ages. I remember a Christmas Eve storm almost this bad shortly after we moved here, and a really bad windstorm-with-snow while I was working at the Survey Center, but wow, this one’s up there.
Getting to work was messy but not too bad; I got in before the really heavy snow started. Coming home I slogged down sidewalks calf-deep in snow with knee-deep drifts all the way to Park and West Wash, where I detoured onto the shore drive because I could walk on the (not plowed, but reasonably well-traveled and snow-free) street.
But I love Madison. Because I’d just gotten the shovel out to help my husband cope with our sidewalks when our next-door neighbor hollered for us to get out of the way so she could come through with her snowblower.
Now I’m hanging out with the Dreamkin on the couch, meditating taking off my wet socks. I should brush my hair, too… but I have to wait until the ice in it finishes melting.
If you’re local, stay home and stay safe, okay?
